Whitley Bay Big Local to Commission a Credit Union for the Town

Whitley Bay Big Local, the Big Lottery funded community led partnership, is looking for a credit union to deliver a £10,000 contract in the town over the next 12 months.

The resident led volunteer board is hoping to establish an active credit union which will encourage local people to join, save and arrange loans, whilst also working with local schools to arrange drop-ins and positively promote the idea of saving amongst pupils.

They are hoping to commission a single credit union which can demonstrate experience of undertaking similar work, with a common bond that covers the geographical area of Whitley Bay -both the Big Local Area and the wider town - and which will demonstrate a commitment to continuing to deliver credit union activities in the Big Local area beyond this commission.

Closing date for applications is 5pm on 15th August 2016 with short listed organisations invited to meet board members the week commencing 22nd August 2016.
